Hello Mary Lou, goodbye heart
Jan. 7th, 2010 10:42 amIt's impromptu day off time, because the furnace broke and someone needs to be home when the repairman comes. :D
The Seattle climate makes this an inconvenience, yes, but not dangerous, so with a couple extra blankets on the beds and one around the fish tank everybody got through the night just fine. (The house I grew up in had no central heating, actually, just a wood stove in the kitchen and no one ever suffered for it.)
The inconvenience of the cold is more than balanced by the opportunity for a day alone at home. I'm cleaning because cleaning is the only thing I can do without feeling guilty about not writing.* But I've got the laptop out (obviously) on the table and I'm writing a line now and again as I pass through the room.
A good day for me and one for you as well, I hope.
* I find that I actually enjoy cleaning as long as it's not the high pressure oh-dear-god-someone's-coming-over-shove-all-this-crap-in-a-drawer kind.
