Okay, so I really need to stop saying "okay, so"
I want to have meaningful thoughts about the Prop 8 trial. I really do. Mostly, though, my reaction is just "F5, F5, F5" because I keep thinking that it couldn't possibly get any worse but, oh, then it does. Seriously, the defense is starting to trigger my embarrassment squick. They are failing so hard at making an argument that I'm starting to feel bad for them. (An aside to the P8 defenders who I know are not reading this blog: It's really hard to let go of privilege--I know; I've been there, and it's scary. But it's time.)
My not-so-secret resolution for this new year is to make a vid. I am so very intimidated by the whole process, but video editing is really fun when it's not being horribly tedious. I find that I miss mucking about with it.
In somewhat related news, I finally broke down and went to see Sherlock Holmes. I was really scared, despite all the good reviews people have been giving it, because Hollywood has shown a remarkable ability to ruin my childhood (Exhibit A, The Seeker). But my husband and I had to take the car downtown Saturday morning so the dealership could install the plates and all the not-exciting accessories we purchased--and lo, the theater down the block was playing Sherlock Holmes, and lo, the next showing started in fifteen minutes, and lo, the dealership said it would be three hours before our car was ready. It was fate.
The movie was... enjoyable. I thought RDJ did well, but I wasn't blown away. Jude Law was amazing as Watson, however. I want to hug him, then drag him into bed, then rifle through his wardrobe and steal his clothes while he sleeps.
Ahem. Yes, well. When this comes out on DVD, I shall certainly be making a vid! I am also hunting for any Sherlock Holmes vids for this film adaptation or others. (Hint, hint.)
And now back to F5ing.
